Pine Floorboard Restoration in Cheam, Surrey
Last week I carried out a very old, pine floorboard restoration in Cheam, Surrey. Some of the boards were broken, so I replaced them with reclaimed timber sourced from Dulwich Reclamation in South-East London. It is important to use reclaimed timber when replacing old floorboards as that gives the best colour match, if brand new boards are put in, they will stand out from the rest of the floor, and look completely different to the original floorboards.
The floor sanding was carried out using my dust-free, Lagler floor-sanding machines, my customers are always amazed at how dust-free they actually are! I then sealed the boards with Bona Prime Classic UX primer, followed by two coats of Bona Traffic varnish. Bona Traffic is a very heavy duty wood floor varnish, designed for high foot traffic areas such as school halls, shops, restaurants etc.. It has a special hardening agent in it which gives a really wear resistant finish. It looks exactly the same as standard varnish when applied, but lasts years longer.
